The Electric & Hybrid Marine World Expo took place at the RAI Exhibition and Congress Centre in Amsterdam between 27 and 29 June. This international event is dedicated to presenting the latest, next-generation electric and hybrid marine propulsion technologies, components and solutions.

From electric driving to electric cruising

The transition to e-mobility is sweeping across land and sea! EVConsult has been involved in numerous projects directed at making recreational and commercial shipping more sustainable for some time now and therefore took advantage of this opportunity to study the latest technologies for sustainable boating close up. Greet van Wesemael, EVConsult Belgium’s CEO, presented the initial findings of an ongoing EVConsult project at a workshop during the trade fair on 28 June. This project builds on a policy document published by the City of Amsterdam aiming to make canal cruises on Amsterdam’s inland waters emission free by 2025. The City of Amsterdam has charged EVConsult with the task of accelerating this process and including other vessels in the process.

Zero emissions for inland vessels

Together with the Port of Amsterdam and the manager of Amsterdam’s inland waters, she presented the ambitious, practical approach to achieve zero emissions for vessels on Amsterdam’s inland waters by 2025. Those present included a delegation from the Port of Paris, the French Inland Water Agency and the Paris Port Community.
